Summer Courses
Apply as a single subject student
How to register:
- Check the general academic requirements
- Fill in the application form
- Attach documentation for your current or previous education (diploma, course certificate etc.). See the section on ‘Admission requirements’ for more information
- If you are not an EU/EEA citizen, but have a permanent residence permit or a temporary residence permit with a view to permanent residence, you must submit your residence permit with your application

- If you meet the academic requirements, you have a good chance of being admitted to the course. However, some courses have limited capacity, and places are awarded on a first come first served basis, so there are no guarantees.
- If you miss the April 1 deadline, you can apply during the late application period. However, there is no guarantee that your application will be processed.
- The earliest you can apply for admission is up to two months before the deadline for applications.
Admission requirements
Please read the ‘Recommended Academic Qualifications’-section in the course description.
The course coordinator will assess your application based on your academic background.
If you are in doubt whether you meet the academic requirements, you are welcome to contact the course coordinator to enquire about your options.
Documentation
If you are a bachelor student, please provide your:
- High school diploma (preferably in English)
- Your bachelor diploma, including full transcript, or a transcript of the courses you have taken so far (in English)
If you are a master student, please provide your:
- Bachelor diploma, including full transcript (in English)
- Your master degree diploma, including full transcript, or a transcript of the courses you have taken so far (in English)
The fees cover teaching and participation in classes and two examination attempts, i.e. an ordinary examination and a re-examination if required. Please note that there may be expenses for teaching materials and any excursions.
The tuition fee must be paid before you start, and is a prerequisite for participation in the course and the exam.

- If you wish to cancel a course before it commences, you must send an email to studentservices@science.ku.dk. Write your name, date of birth and the name of the course, and you will be unenrolled from the course and your payment will be refunded.
- If you have paid directly, the amount will be refunded to your own account. If your employer or home university has paid, please provide the account number the money should be refunded to.
- If you withdraw after the start of the course, it is not possible to obtain a payment refund.
- Once we receive your application, it will be registered and you will receive a receipt stating when you can expect a response. Please note that it may take up to 10 days before you receive your receipt.
- You will be contacted if anything is missing in your application, so you can send supplementary material.
- Once the application period is over, you will be admitted to the course if you meet the admission requirements and there is a vacant place. Vacant places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
- If you do not meet the admission requirements or no places are available, you will receive a rejection.
- If you are admitted, you will receive an admission email. An invoice will also be sent to you or to your employer (depending on what you have written in the application).
- Once your payment for the course has been received, you will receive an email containing your UCPH username and information on how to log in to UCPH’s systems.
- You are now ready to start your course.
Summer courses end with an examination. Once you have registered and have been admitted to the course, you are automatically registered for the ordinary examination. If you withdraw from the ordinary exam, or if you fail it, please note that your next examination attempt must be made either in the same year as the teaching took place, or the following year.
Pre-requisites for taking the exam
There may be prerequisites for taking the examination, e.g. submission of compulsory assignments, class participation. You can find more information in the course description under ‘Exam’. If you do not meet the conditions for taking the exam, and you have not cancelled your exam registration, you have used one examination attempt.
Remember to bring your student identity card to your exam – or photo ID (passport or driving licence) If you have not received your student card.
Exam withdrawal
If you do not want to take the exam, you must remember to withdraw from the exam via KUnet > Self Service > Enrolment, Courses and Exams. If you do not withdraw from the exam, you have used one exam attempt.
Registering for re-examination
If you fail or do not take the ordinary exam, you must register for re-examination by writing to studentservices@science.ku.dk. You will not be registered automatically.
Re-exams for 2020 summer courses take place in November 2020.
Documentation and transcripts
If you want documentation to show you have passed a single subject course, you can print a transcript via ‘Self Service’ on KUnet. If you need a signed printout of your examination result and transcript, please contact the Helpdesk in SCIENCE Student Services.
KUnet
Once you have been admitted to the course and paid the fees, you will gain access to the University of Copenhagen’s intranet called KUnet. A username and password will be sent to you via email. On KUnet net, you can check your registration, download a transcript and access Absalon – the University of Copenhagen’s online learning platform.
Absalon
On Absalon you can
- find teaching material, assignments and other relevant material
- find information about your course
- find information about changes to time and place for classes
- communicate with teachers and fellow students
You will automatically get access to the course room once you have been allocated a place and assigned to a group on the course.
You log in to Absalon via the front page of KUnet and you use the same log-in information as for KUnet.
