Summer Courses as a single subject student

You can take summer courses at The Faculty of Science as a single subject student if you are

  • a student at a non-Danish university
  • not enrolled at a university or college.

You must meet the admission requirements for the course(s) you want to take and apply within the application period.

 

Make sure that you meet all the requirements from the course description for the courses you want to apply for. You must meet both the

  • 'Recommended Academic Qualifications', if any
  • 'Formal requirements', if any.

The Head of Studies will assess your application based on your academic background.

If you are in doubt whether you meet the academic requirements, you are welcome to contact the course coordinator to enquire about your options.

  • If you meet the academic requirements, you have a good chance of being admitted to the course. However, some courses have limited capacity, and places are allocated on a first come, first served basis, so there are no guarantees.
  • If you miss the April 1 deadline, you can apply during the late application period. However, there is no guarantee that your application will be processed.

  3. Upload documentation for your current or previous education (diploma, course certificate etc.)
  4. Please use the quick guide if you need help using the application portal.

Documentation

If you are a non-EU/EEA citizen but have a permanent residence permit or a temporary residence permit with a view to permanent residence, you must submit your residence permit with your application.

If you are a bachelor's student, please upload your:

  • High school diploma (preferably in English)
  • Bachelor's degree diploma, including full transcript, or a transcript of the courses you have taken so far (in English)

If you are a master's student, please upload your:

  • Bachelor’s degree diploma, including full transcript (in English)
  • Master’s degree diploma, including full transcript, or a transcript of the courses you have taken so far (in English)

  • The application portal opens: 1 February
  • Application deadline: 1 April

The fees cover teaching and participation in classes and 2 examination attempts, an ordinary examination and a re-examination if required. Please note that there may be expenses for teaching materials and any excursions.

The tuition fee must be paid before you start and is required in order to participate in the course(s) and exam.

Cancellations and refunds

  • If you wish to cancel a course before it commences, you must send an email to studentservices@science.ku.dk. Write your name, date of birth and the name of the course, and you will be disenrolled from the course and your payment will be refunded.
  • If you have paid directly, the amount will be refunded to your account. If your employer or own educational institution has paid, please provide the account number the money should be refunded to.
  • If you withdraw after the start of the course, it is not possible to obtain a payment refund.

 

  1. Once you have submitted your application you will receive a confirmation from the portal. Please note that emails from the application portal may end up in your spam filter. Therefore you must check the email you have registered in your application. The sender of the email is no-reply@ufm.dk.
  2. You will receive a notification by email if documentation is missing in your application so that you can upload supplementary material in the portal.
  3. Once the application period is over, you will be admitted to the course if you meet the admission requirements and there is a vacant place. Vacant places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
  4. If you do not meet the admission requirements or no places are available, you will receive a rejection.
  5. If you are admitted, you will receive an admission email. An invoice will also be sent to you or your employer (depending on what you have chosen in the application).
  6. Once we have received your payment for the course, you will receive an email with your UCPH username and information on how to log in to UCPH’s systems.
  7. You are now ready to start your summer course.

 

Summer courses end with an examination. Once you have registered and been admitted to the course, you are automatically registered for the ordinary exam. If you withdraw from the ordinary exam, or if you fail it, please note that your next exam attempt must be made either in the same year as the teaching took place, or the following year.

Requirements for taking the exam

There may be requirements for taking the exam, e.g. submission of compulsory assignments, class participation. You can find more information in the course description in the course catalogue under ‘Exam’.

If you do not meet the requirements for taking the exam, and you have not cancelled your exam registration, you have used 1 exam attempt.

Remember to bring your student identity card to your exam – or photo ID (passport or driving licence), if you have not received your student card.

How to withdraw from the exam

If you do not want to take the exam, you must remember to withdraw from the exam on KUnet. If you do not withdraw from the exam, you have used 1 exam attempt.

On KUnet go to > Self Service > Enrolment, Courses and Exams.

How to register for the re-exam

If you fail or do not take the ordinary exam, you must register for the re-exam by writing to studentservices@science.ku.dk. You will not be registered automatically.

Documentation and transcripts

If you want documentation to show you have passed a summer course, you can print a transcript via Self Service on KUnet.

If you need a signed printout of your exam result and transcript, please contact SCIENCE Student Services.

 

Once you have been admitted to the course(s) and paid the fees, you will gain access to UCPH's intranet KUnet and UCPH's online learning platform Absalon. A username and password will be sent to your email.

On KUnet you can

  • check your registration
  • download a transcript
  • access Absalon.

Absalon

On Absalon, you can

  • find teaching material, assignments and other relevant material
  • find information about your course(s)
  • find information about changes to the time and place of classes
  • communicate with teachers and fellow students.

You will automatically gain access to the course room on Absalon once you have been allocated a place and assigned to a group on the course.

You log in to Absalon via the front page of KUnet and use the same login information as for KUnet.
