Danish National Research Foundation

The Danish National Research Foundation supports Danish research via large, long-term projects. The foundation is characterised by supporting "fundamental research" and is aimed at the elite of Denmark's research community.
The Danish National Research Foundation's primary approach to funding is via the establishment of Centres of Excellence. The grants are normally for 20-60 million kroner, paid over a 5 year pe-riod. The maximum support a project can receive is 2, 5-year grants. The foundation has also other activities for example supporting visiting professorships, and collaborating with the Chinese National Research Council to increased Danish-Chinese research collaborations.
In extension of this work, the foundation has, in the spring of 2009, established a joint Danish-Chinese cancer research centre and is investigating whether there is a basis for establishing a similar centre within the fields of nano-science and renewable energy. See the foundations website here.

SCIENCE Research and Innovation provide guidance in the process of planning the construction of a centre, advice during the process of participating in an application round and when writing the initial application. You can also get your application critiqued. Contact Rasmus Borum Rydahl for more information.
