Doctor Dissertations

Awarding a doctoral degree must be an expression of recognition of the author for possessing significant scientific knowledge and maturity and for the authors important contributing to science with his/hers dissertation. Awarding the doctoral degree happens based on a dissertation that is defended at an oral public defense.

The detailed rules of submission and evaluation of a dissertation can be found in Principles for Doctoral Cases  and the University of Copenhagen's Internal Rules and Guides of Doctoral Dissertations (In Danish only). In addition there is also the Ministerial Order on Doctoral Degrees.

For the chairman of a doctoral dissertation defense it would be a good idea to read the Chairmans guide.
